CME to launch grain calendar spread options

The CME Group has announced calendar spread options for corn, wheat, soybeans, soybean meal and soybean oil futures will be available to trade on the exchange from June 1, 2009.

The contracts, which will be subject to Chicago Board of Trade rules and regulations, will enable customers to roll from one futures contract month to another without the risk of changing price differentials. They will also help grain merchandisers and processors to manage the risks associated with grain storage and purchase requirements.
