Bank Leumi appoints new chief credit officer for the US

Israel’s Bank Leumi has named Ira Romoff as its new chief credit officer and risk manager for North America. He will replace Stanley Karp, who will retire from the bank following 20 years' service tomorrow.

Romoff joined Bank Leumi from European American Bank (EAB), one of Long Island's largest banks, which was acquired by Citigroup last year.

“By taking appropriate risks based on the economic environment, we will continue to grow in key markets and increase our ability to serve customers,” said Romoff. "We will focus our immediate efforts on expanding the things we are already doing well and seeking out new opportunities to move into other areas of lending."

Prior to joining EAB, Romoff worked as a senior vice-president and managing director at the UK’s National Westminster Bank.
