Spectron snares global weather head from Icap

London-based energy broker Spectron Group has hired Mike Scharfenberger as its global head of weather.

Scharfenberger joins from the interdealer broker Icap, where he was on the weather derivatives desk in Louisville, Kentucky. He will be based in Spectron's offices in Houston.

Spectron has been broking weather derivatives in Europe since 1999, and launched an over-the-counter weather trading platform in 2002.
