Three regional consortia gain traction; SG and Standard Chartered stay on solo track

Banks are accelerating plans to issue stablecoins for instantaneous, round-the-clock settlement, with many ditching in-house builds in favour of industry consortia to reduce fragmentation and broaden distribution in the fast-growing market.

In October 2025, a consortium of nine bank heavyweights comprising Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, MUFG Bank, Santander
