‘A new model’: Marex’s plan to take on the big banks

Non-bank challenger stepping into new businesses and new markets as incumbents retrench

Somewhere around 2022, Marex stopped referring to itself as a commodities specialist, opting instead for “diversified global financial services platform”. For a firm that has made more than 15 acquisitions in the past five years, the change made sense. 

Today Marex is radically different from what it was, and seems sure to be different again in five years’ time.
