The KRI Framework

Ann Rodriguez and Viney Chadha

The next three chapters will cover the KRI framework, the KRI programme and the KRI project. Taken together, they form the blueprint for designing and implementing an integrated KRI programme and then using it to achieve the value proposition. Simply put, the framework is a roadmap, the programme is governance and a collection of processes that are executed continuously and the project is the funded and staffed initiative to get it all implemented.

As a roadmap, the KRI framework can describe the KRI programme, specifying the design of the programme, roles and responsibilities, specific standards for execution, procedures and documentation requirements. Once developed, the framework becomes a key tool for socialising the programme within the organisation. It is the auditable reference for the programme’s function, maintenance and governance. It is the playbook.

OUTLINE OF THE FRAMEWORK

The KRI framework is a document or a set of documents that include sections for background and design, identification, threshold or trigger management, monitoring, usage and reporting, effectiveness, and programme governance.
