Moves on climate risk could come early; other changes may have to wait until the end of 2021, or later

The much vaunted blue wave failed to materialise. After four nail-biting days of vote counting, Joe Biden is now US president-elect, while the fate of the Senate rests on a pair of run-offs in January.

With a divided Congress, Biden will find it more difficult to pursue his campaign policy agenda, which in any case didn’t contain a single chapter on financial regulation.
