Data challenge for Asia’s disparate derivatives markets

Despite Asia’s rapid capital market development in recent years there are still large gaps in the data sets required to power banks’ Basel III models – but firms in the region are rising to meet this challenge


Regardless of the stage markets in Asia have reached in terms of development, it seems that no bank in the region looking to meet Basel requirements early can escape the long-standing problems in creating and collecting data of sufficient quality to put together successful risk modelling systems.
