Some three years since the idea of a central repository for energy price data was first mooted, the US Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO) has emerged with a detailed proposal – which it set out at a presentation in Houston in May (see box). However, there are still issues to be ironed out before a ‘data hub’ becomes a reality, as the CCRO is the first to admit. And some organisations – notably index provider Platts – have concerns about how the hub will operate.
