Taiwan earthquake hits Asia e-trading

Trading over electronic foreign exchange dealing systems was disrupted during Asian hours, after an earthquake hit Taiwan on the night of December 26.

Traders in Hong Kong and Singapore say e-dealing systems Bloomberg, EBS Spot and Reuters Matching all experienced connectivity problems during the morning of December 27.

The earthquake, which measured 7.1 on the Richter scale, cut telecommunications and internet connections throughout the region. Trading with banks in Taiwan was worst affected
