Bond issuance nears $2 trillion

Total global bond issuance for the first half of 2007 was up 13% year-on-year to $1.8 trillion, according to data released in July. The second quarter was down slightly on Q1, falling from $937 billion to $877 billion, according to the data from the International Capital Markets Association. Total market size in outstanding international bonds now stands at over $11 trillion, just under half of which is denominated in euros and some $4 trillion in dollars.
