Poalim's beauty contest

London-based Poalim Asset Management delivers structured products to its high-net-worth clients through its global private banking arm, Bank Hapoalim in Israel. The asset manager regularly holds 'beauty contests' to find the right partner to structure the investments. Amanda Lee profiles its business

Established in 2001, Poalim Asset Management, a subsidiary of Israeli's Bank Hapoalim, has been distributing structured products to its private banking clients for four years. Unlike most other banking groups, Bank Hapoalim's own investment banking arm, Poalim Capital Market, does not have the facilities to price structured investments. However, the lack of an in-house structuring operation is not all bad news, according to the London-based asset manager.
