Russian gas exports to Europe via Ukraine halted

Exports of Russian natural gas to Europe through Ukraine have now been completely halted, according to statements from Ukraine's Naftogaz and Russia's Gazprom.

Naftogaz claimed that Russian flows were halted early this morning, while Gazprom Export chairman Alexander Medvedev said Naftogaz had closed a fourth transit pipeline after shutting down three early yesterday.

Several European countries including Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland have reported a halt to supplies from Russia, with Austria's OMV filling the shortfall in supply for consumers with gas from underground storage. Italy says it is only receiving 10% of its usual supply.
