US Midwest a step closer to wholesale power market

Miso stakeholders approved the creation of the Miso Cinergy hub, the Miso Michigan hub and the Miso Illinois hub at an October 20 meeting in Carmel, Indiana. The hope is that the hubs will allow for a smooth transition to market operations, said Ron McNamara, chief economist and vice-president for regulatory affairs at Miso.

The hubs allow market participants to transfer from their existing bilateral contracts in ways that better reflect the day-ahead and real-time energy markets based on
