Sumitomo voice risk: The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Company is to install a set of "intelligent" PC-based telephone dealer boards provided by Hitachi.
The souped-up phone system automatically monitors call activity, so that managers can see when and with whom the bank's traders are making phone calls.
"This feature is expected to enhance management control as well as create an awareness among the traders that their activities are being monitored," says a Hitachi source.
