Op risk qualification launched in UK

The course is aimed at staff in operations with 18 months' experience and that have attained a Financial Services Authority threshold competency qualification or an equivalent back-office qualification from another provider. It uses a pre-published case-study approach that is new to the financial services industry, the institute said.

“Risk is a big issue for the industry and our members wanted an advanced examination that tested candidates' ability to deal with the type of practical operational risk issues encountered in their firms,” said Simon Culhane, chief executive of the Securities Institute.

The first exam, scheduled for September 10, will be offered in London as well as a number of regional UK venues including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester.
