Securitisation - IAIS plays down similarities between insurance securitisation and banking

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has played down parallels between the burgeoning insurance securitisation sector and its banking industry equivalent.

The IAIS's inaugural half-yearly report into the (re)insurance securitisation market, Developments in (Re)Insurance Securitisation, sees it as an effective mechanism to complement traditional insurance, but seeks to distance it from the business models that nearly brought down the banking industry last year.
