European securitisation issuance at record levels

Issuance of securitisations in Europe reached €459 billion in 2006 – its highest ever level, according to data from the European Securitisation Forum released today.

The final three months of 2006 also hit a new quarterly record, with €177 billion issued, up 60% from Q3, and 24% compared with Q4, 2005.

RMBS dominated, accounting for 53% of total issuance, while CDOs represented 19% and CMBS 13%.

Regionally, the UK accounted for the largest share of issuance, comprising 57% of the total (€192
