Sovereign CDS spreads widen

The cost of credit protection rose on Australasian and European sovereigns in today's European and Asian trading.

Five-year senior credit default swap (CDS) spreads referencing Australian sovereign debt moved out from 60.18 basis points at yesterday's New York close to 70bp at 2:30pm BST today, according to data from credit information specialist CMA Datavision. CDS spreads on New Zealand widened 7.37bp to 87.37bp.

In Europe, CDSs on Greece moved out by 8.2bp to 137.54bp, while CDSs on Finland were trading wider by 6.66bp at 35.65bp.
