Newedge launches India office and plans further expansion

French joint-venture brokerage Newedge has opened an office in Mumbai, aimed at giving international investors access to the growing market, and eventually providing for the developing investor base in the country.

Pierre Gay, the firm's Hong Kong-based chief executive for Asia, said an Indian office gave the firm the full coverage of the main markets it had been planning for in the Asia region. He said the opening would mark a shift in the strategy the firm employs for expansion, with future
