The equity index options market for US life insurers continued growing in the first quarter of 2023, with Lincoln Financial the flag bearer for the buy side and JP Morgan the biggest sell-side beneficiary.

The bank saw its book jump 63%, from $81 billion notional in Q4 to $132 billion in the first three months of this year, leaving it on top of the sell-side leaderboard. From fourth position at the end of 2022, JP Morgan leapfrogged Barclays, Citi and Goldman.
