Traditionally, infrastructure has not been seen as the most glamorous corner of the over-the-counter derivatives market, but regulatory reform is making it sexier.

Two of the more interesting ideas to come out of the industry this year – credit checking hubs for trades that need to go to a central counterparty (CCP) and the triBalance risk-rebalancing service offered by TriOptima – have come from infrastructure providers. This is not just plumbing, but an attempt to fix big problems for a market
