Last-Minute Rush Expected As Deadline Looms For Basle II Comment


Global banking regulators are expecting a late rush of comments on the Basle II proposals ahead of May 31. This is the deadline set for reactions to the regulators’ controversial plans to impose an op risk capital charge on major banks from 2001.

The proposal that large international banks should for the first time set aside capital against the risk of loss from operational hazards has provoked responses ranging from the sympathetic to the downright hostile. The hazards in question include fraud
