Malta: hedge fund industry gains momentum

Malta is becoming increasingly popular as a fund jurisdiction as more funds, particularly hedge funds, choose the island as their domicile. The value of assets of funds domiciled there stood at only Ä500 million at the end of 2001. This rose rapidly to Ä8.8 billion by the end of 2007 before falling to Ä6.6 billion at the end of 2008.
