Further uncertainty for US carbon trading

Californian carbon cap-and-trade scheme suffers legal set-back on road to 2012 start date

The California Air Resources Board (ARB), the body responsible for designing California's carbon cap-and-trade scheme, has said it will appeal last week's ruling by the San Francisco Superior Court that threatens to delay the start of the scheme.

The San Francisco Superior Court ruled on Friday that the ARB did not properly research alternatives to cap-and-trade. As a result the ARB must now show
