RGGI lawsuit settled

Indeck Energy, a New York-based power generator, announced its intention to sue the state in January 2009 over the legality of RGGI, a 10-state cap and trade agreement that aims to reduce power sector carbon dioxide emissions by 10% by 2018. Indeck said the programme discriminated against generators bound by long-term agreements.

However, the suit was settled in late December, according to a joint statement issued on December 23 by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority
