The WRMA also intends to launch a campaign to educate utilities about the advantagesof weather derivatives over weather normalisation agreements. Weather risk firmsview normalisation agreements – whereby a utility makes an agreement withits regulator that it can raise or reduce rates to mitigate the impact of weather – asan increasing threat to the development of the weather risk market.
The AMS committee will advise how the AMS should respond to issues raised bythe National Research Council
