Delayed Zeebrugge gas documentation due in Q1 2004

The delayed standard agreements for trading natural gas instruments at the Zeebrugge gas hub are set for release in the first quarter of next year, said Peter Taff, director of European operations at UK utility Centrica and a member of the Zeebrugge Focus Group. This follows a period of infighting among gas market participants.

Industry participants had previously hoped to upgrade the existing ‘ZBT 2001’ documentation by the end of this year at the latest. But the focus group’s member companies were split over the issue. Three of the companies – Centrica, Germany utility RWE and British oil major BP – are members of the European Federation of Energy Traders (Efet). And they wanted the new agreements to follow the terms
