Sky-rocketing energy prices, volatility, credit risk and huge margin calls were all major challenges for European energy market players in 2022. As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine choked gas supply to Europe, producers faced a liquidity crunch and needed rapid margin refinancing. Meanwhile, consumers faced huge hikes in their energy bills and needed timely hedging strategies to help them stay afloat. As a result, pre-allocated credit lines came under enormous stress.
