Risk.net poll – UK Treasury is right over ECB lawsuit


The UK Treasury is right to pursue legal action in response to a European Central Bank (ECB) policy proposal that would see central counterparties (CCPs) that clear euro-denominated products legally incorporated in the eurozone, according to respondents to a Risk.net poll.

Sixty-three per cent supported the lawsuit, which claims the ECB's policy proposal goes beyond its constitutional remit, while 37% of respondents agreed with the ECB that CCPs should be legally incorporated in the country of
