A few years ago, Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VP Bank) ranked fifth in the country in terms of the number of car loans issued to clients. But that wasn’t good enough for the bank’s chief risk officer Dmytro Kolechko: he wanted the bank to be number one.

“If you are the bank of first choice by customers, you are privileged to address the best credit risk profile clients, and other banks get the clients you have already rejected – that’s the beauty of it,” Kolechko says.
