Thomson Reuters Point Carbon (TRPC) wins our Innovation of the Year award for Live Power Intelligence (LPI) - a unique system that monitors power production at plants using magnetic sensors, analyses the information via a specially developed algorithm and then distributes it to traders.
It is particularly useful for measuring hydroelectric production and its time lag of only around two minutes for reporting outages compares favourably with the 20 or 30 minutes that most current reporting routes
