Societe Generale's energy derivatives business in Asia has been going from strength to strength. On top of an established flow products platform for trading crude oil, fuel and gasoline products - its energy derivatives desk in Singapore was set up in 1999 - the firm's alliance in Japan in 2001 with Mizuho Corporate Bank has made inroads into the Japanese energy derivatives market. The French bank also set up a mining and commodities finance group in China in mid-2006. It provides services
