Life & Pension Risk Nordics: Market volatility and Solvency II 'present opportunities for life sector'

The current volatility in the financial markets and regulatory upheaval will create opportunities for life insurers as well as threats, according to Jakob Carlsson, chief financial officer of Swedish life insurer Länsförsäkringar Liv.

Speaking at Life & Pension Risk Nordics conference in Stockholm, Carlsson said increased market volatility would increase consumer demand for low-risk investment products, while regulatory changes such as Solvency II would improve the insurance industry's risk
