Insurers 'keen to close down market' in controversial investments
The American Council of Life Insurers (Acli) is reviewing the UK Financial Services Authority's (FSA) recent guidance on trade life policy investments (TLPIs) as it formulates its recommendations to the US regulatory authorities on these products.
The FSA last month issued guidance restricting the marketing of TLPIs to retail investors. It plans to consult later in the year on new rules to ban the marketing of these products to retail clients in most circumstances.
