EU guarantee scheme gathers steam

Six years after the Irish regulator first proposed the creation of a European-wide insurance guarantee mechanism, the European Commission has received a report outlining various options, with a decision on if, and how, to proceed expected in the first quarter of 2007 - but the option of a single European-wide system has already been ruled out.
