Reuters 3000Xtra offered via servers

Reuters has developed a centrally managed server farm that should allow clients to deploy its premium information and trading Reuters 3000Xtra terminals at reduced cost.

The release of 3000Xtra in a so-called ‘thin-client environment’ means clients can use a central server to run the main Reuters 3000Xtra applications with end-users needing only relatively cheap computers to access the full range of Reuters products.

Such a system should reduce the overall cost and deployment risk for institutions. It will also allow end-users to access 3000Xtra remotely.

Reuters has signed a deal with US computer company HP that makes HP Services its preferred vendor to provide the related thin-client consultation services.

The UK information and systems provider said Reuters 3000Xtra version 4.5 is available immediately for thin-client deployment.

Reuters 3000Xtra offers cross-asset information and analytics.
