CRR III curbs charges for BPCE’s equity stakes

RWAs for subsidiaries outside prudential consolidation drop 82% after Basel revamp

Groupe BPCE drastically curtailed its use of the simplified risk-weighting method for equity investments in the first quarter, as new European Union banking rules reshaped how stakes in the banking book must be capitalised.

Under the simple equity approach, which assigns fixed conversion factors depending on whether exposures are listed or unlisted, risk-weighted assets (RWAs) slumped 82.1% to €6
