Annual update ratchets up op RWAs at European banks
DNB, RBI and Swedbank post double-digit RWA rises for second year running ahead of Basel III implementation
Three European banks reported record operational risk-weighted assets (RWAs) at the end of 2024 due to annual updates reflecting higher income.
Swedbank’s op RWAs increased by 16.5% to Skr112 billion ($10.2 billion), while DNB Bank Group’s rose by 15.6% to Nkr140 billion – its largest annual increase.
Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) rounded out the trio with an 11.8% rise to €16.2 billion.
