Sigor chair warns rising op risk losses not reflected in capital

Head of Basel op risk subcommittee notes rising losses in 2008 and 2009 compared with minimal capital growth

Mitsutoshi Adachi, chair of the Basel Committee's sub-group on operational risk (Sigor), has warned the latest data on operational risk losses might not be reflected in the capital held aside by institutions.

In his keynote address on the first day of Operational Risk & Regulation's OpRisk North America conference, Adachi said the latest quantitative impact study (QIS) data shows that over 2008
