The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s standards implementation subgroup on operational risk (Sigor) has published its long-awaited paper: Recognising the risk-mitigating impact of insurance in operational risk modelling. This paper is the culmination of a process lasting more than two years for regulators to acknowledge and agree on the parameters for awarding capital discounts for the use of insurance in banks using an advanced measurement approach (AMA) for operational risk under Basel
