Basel III 'sub-optimal' says EU think tank

The Basel III rules are "sub-optimal legislation", according to a leading European policy think tank.

Speaking to Operational Risk & Regulation in Brussels, Rym Ayadi, senior research fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (Ceps), describes the Basel III rules as "a good exercise, but in need of being completely revisited".  She says the process of drafting the proposed regulations had fallen victim to "political compromise".
