Data deluge increases info management risk

An exponential rise in the volume of unnecessary data being stored by firms – such as employee email records and internal communications – is leading to increased risk, as the gap widens between information management policies and practices.

This is according to the 2010 Information management health check survey compiled from senior legal and IT executives at almost 1,700 firms across 26 countries by California-based data management software firm Symantec.

The study says 30% of data held
