Moody’s widens op risk definition for securitisation

LONDON – Credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service has issued a paper broadening the definition of operational risk within structured finance, skirting the existing boundaries of counterparty, credit and liquidity risk. The paper, Global structured finance: Operational risk request for comment, is bespoke to meet the securitisation industry’s operational requirements, and marks a departure from the Basel II op risk definition.
