Industry calls for US Simm model approval guidance

Isda AGM: US banks in the dark over uncleared initial margin model approvals

The SEC has not yet finalised its margin rules

Market participants are calling for more clarity from US regulators about the timing and process for approving banks' uncleared initial margin models.

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association is developing a standard initial margin model (Simm) to meet new margin rules for uncleared derivatives. The Simm is meant to provide a market standard way to calculate initial margin in order to avoid disputes that would invariably arise when counterparties use their own internal models.
