Market participants are calling for more clarity from US regulators about the timing and process for approving banks' uncleared initial margin models.

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association is developing a standard initial margin model (Simm) to meet new margin rules for uncleared derivatives. The Simm is meant to provide a market standard way to calculate initial margin in order to avoid disputes that would invariably arise when counterparties use their own internal models.
