Dividend swaps demand surges

The dividend swaps market is growing in liquidity, with dealers reporting an increase in two-way flow, as well as the emergence of options on dividend swaps.

Dividend swaps have typically been used by banks to lay off some of the dividend exposure on their books accumulated by selling equity-based structured products. While dividend swaps volumes have surged over the past two years, especially among hedge funds, two-way activity has only recently emerged, say dealers.
