
Insurers poised to arbitrage Solvency II-compliant rivals in Asia

Asian insurers and the arms of non-European insurers active in the region are conducting ‘gap analyses' to work out if they may enjoy any strategic competitive advantages compared with rival European firms, as the latter group moves to comply with new Solvency II risk-based capital regulations by January 1, 2013.
Solvency II only affects European-domiciled insurers. The regulations contain three pillars, setting out requirements around the amount of capital an insurer should hold, requirements
