Banks urge EBA to delay risk benchmarking amid Iran conflict

Risk managers say hypothetical portfolio exercise clashes with severe market turbulence

Three bank sources say the industry is requesting that the European Banking Authority delays the submission of results for a market risk benchmarking exercise, citing disruption caused by the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East. 

A spokesperson for the EBA says the authority “is aware of such requests” and is working on them with the relevant supervisory subgroup.
