Energy Risk Europe: energy trading firms' technology not ready for new rules

Many energy trading firms have yet to begin getting the technological infrastructure in place to comply with new EU and US financial market regulations, say panellists

Some European energy firms' technology departments are not prepared for a coming wave of regulatory change, according to one panellist at the Energy Risk Europe conference in London today.

But industry representatives argued it's difficult for companies to engage with a wave of new European Union (EU) rules - which include the Regulation on Energy Market Integrity and Transparency, the European Market Infrastructure Regulation, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive and the Market Abuse
