‘Enron effect’ hits energy traders’ pay in UK

Overall average UK energy traders’ pay has been hit by the fall of Enron, says a survey released in May by UK-based energy human resources consultants SMCL.

The SMCL UK Energy Trading* survey says the absence of Enron, previously one of the highest payers, has driven down total remuneration – salary combined with bonus – for UK traders. The drop can be most starkly seen in relation to bonus payments. The average surveyed bonus falls by 110% if Enron data is removed from the analysis, whereas
